  • Indira Gandhi National Tribal University was established by the Government of India in 2007 in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
  • It is a central university.
  • It was passed by a law in the Indian Parliament.
  • The then M.H.R.D. The Minister, Shri Arjun Singh laid the foundation stone of Amarkant on 19 April 2008.
  • The Government of India issued an order in 2008 appointing the founding Vice-Chancellor of the University.
